A "Winning" Poetry Prompt

Crinkle, Crackle, Crack, It's Spring! The winners of my Earth Day Book Giveaway were chosen at random, and the individuals who will receive a copy of my new book Crinkle, Crackle, Crack: It’s Spring are:Angie K. of Evansville, INRenee L. of Boone, NCMarion K. of Jefferson Elementary School in New Ulm, MNWe asked entrants to tell us about their favorite parts of spring, and we thought we’d share a little of what they shared here. Perhaps you could do a similar activity with your students, and then use their answers to put together a classroom “found poem”?My favorite part of spring is……seeing children riding their bikes again, jump ropes, baseball gloves and marbles coming to school.…NO SNOWPANTS and boots and of course all the mud in the hallways after recess.…when my irises bloom. They always remind me of my mom.…the smells of freshly cut grass, budding trees and flowers. The sun staying out later each day.…the fresh start feeling I get every spring when anything seems possible.…looking up one day and everything has gone from bare and brown to a soft green.…the blossom-covered trees and the smell of spring—rain, lilacs, clean air.…we no longer have to bundle up 19 preschoolers in order to go outside to play!…rhubarb!…cherry blossoms in bloom, rainy days and rainbows.…wonderful books like this!
