An Eye-Opening Learning Opportunity

nature picture booksFour of my picture books feature photographs by esteemed wildlife photographer Stan Tekiela: The Cutest Critter, Baby Bear Discovers the World, Some Babies Are Wild, and Jump, Little Wood Ducks. Along with featuring eye-catching images of real animals, the books also provide great examples for young photographers to study. Many children have access to simple cameras via a family member’s cell phone.

According to Toronto educator and photographer Diana Nazareth, “Photography can help develop a child’s voice, vision and identity as it pertains to their family, friends and community.” You can find more about the benefits of teaching children photography in “Photography for Kids: What Kids Learn When They’re Behind the Camera.” Perhaps you may want to further incorporate photography into your classroom?
