Be Ready for Banned Books Week!

This year’s Banned Books Week is September 18-24. The issue of book banning has received more attention than ever over the past few months—but it’s not a new concern, as evidenced by this piece I wrote two years ago about my novel On My Honor, a title that has been challenged many times over many years. In fact, my anthology Am I Blue? Coming Out from the Silence and On My Honor are both on this list of “Frequently Challenged Young Adult Books,” compiled by the American Library Association’s Office for Intellectual Freedom.

I hope that you’ll take a look at all of the books on that list, as well as the Banned Books Week materials, and then join in some of the events and activities planned for this year! As the materials say, “Books Unite Us. Censorship Divides Us.”
