Earth Day Ideas

April 22nd is Earth Day. Although it’s difficult for small children to grasp some environmental concepts, almost all children are intrigued by, and sympathetic to, the plight of wildlife facing threats to their environments. My newest book, Jump, Little Wood Ducks, celebrates wild animals like the three other titles I’ve created with naturalist and photographer Stan Tekiela: Baby Bear Discovers the World, Some Babies Are Wild, and The Cutest Critter. All of the titles present photos of live animals in natural settings. Perhaps you can share one or more of these titles with your classroom in preparation for Earth Day this year. For those with time to dig deeper, TIME for Kids presents a variety of other Earth Day materials here. Some Babies Are WildJump Little Wood Ducks
