Winter Ready
As your students prepare for winter, your classroom can compare and contrast the different ways that various animals make their own preparations—several of which are noted in my picture book Winter Dance. Along with starred reviews from Booklist, Publishers Weekly, and Kirkus, the book received this descriptive review from School Library Journal:“Winter approaches with the arrival of a solitary snowflake, while a young red fox questions what to do when the air grows colder…. One by one, the fox asks the creatures of the forest, ‘What should I do?’ Each answers with the instinct or innate behavior of their species…. A suggested first purchase suitable for young readers in libraries and classrooms studying seasons and animal behavior.”If you happen to teach first grade, you can find a detailed lesson plan posted here on the Education.com website.
